Unexpected Journey of Meteorologist to Customer Analyst

A Journey of Meteorologist to be Data Management Apprentice on Customer Analytics Department

Hallo everyone !

I want to share my slight journey as Data Management Apprentice on elevenia.co.id, in which, currently I am being prepared to be Customer Analyst for sure.

How come a Meteorologist became a Customer Analyst?

Well, I am not really sure why, but regarding my Interview with the user,  I can assure him several things, I do have programming minded, with intermediate understanding of statistic, and can deliver the insight of analysis to the people. FYI, in Meteorology, we were learning about statistic because we're scientist, right? We are talking about the Data, and digging these data and serving it to be some insightful analysis. As a student, I used to be assistant lecturer of Weather and Climate Data Analysis (WCDA) and Numerical Weather Prediction. We used Matlab and Fortran to calculating our data, and for the record, every week, we used to do presentation in front of students, lecturers, and laboratory assistants. This story can sum up my experiences regarding programming, statistic, and presentation skills.

What makes it interesting, actually what I am doing as Data Management apprentice might be not really different with Meteorology subjects, except for the advanced tools and also the data itself. I am currently learning about SQL, a language to communicate with the database. Because all of our data is stored on Cloud, and you may consider as Big Data. Furthermore, I was learning about Web Recommender Logics, and how could they increase the conversion rate of a website, also I learnt how Amazon.com can be so success with this recommendation logic things. Last but not least, recently I was learning about Google Analytics, which is really powerful tools to getting the insight of who are your visitors are, how could they end up into your website, how they behavior is, how impactful our paid or unpaid campaigns, how many interactions the customers did to convert into transaction, and lots of things for sure. And you know what, thanks to google actually, we are eager to learn anything by ourselves. And because when I was on Meteorology student, which the subject itself sometimes lack of sources and books, I can manage and handle with that conditions. Googling might be the best tools to learn anything by myself.

One of my task -just for learning- what kind of CA's going to do

Google Analytics in a Nutshell
One of our task as Apprentice to getting lots of insight by using Google Analytics

Actually we already had 5 tasks so far (always do presentation every week), but these might be confidential because I was using real data from the company. So I am definitely not sharing these reports haha.

Last, we were just having the meeting regarding the path of Customer Analytics department, because it's still new in Elevenia. And I am telling you that I am so excited to build my career in this path, because it's so challenging for me with the background -that in the middle of- Statistics and Programming, also, all of us will learn and growing this department together (Aamiin!)

So, for all of Meteorology students out there, especially from ITB. Just don't be afraid for what you're going to be. Because I believe, actually, you can be whatever you want to be, and somehow, you might relate all of this stuff to what you have learnt in Meteorology so far. My message for you guys, dedicate yourself, your time, and your mind, to learn anything from this program and your organization, because it's gonna help you to achieve more :) Thank you and see you on Top :)

It really means to me, karena aku mulai merasa kedamaian dan benefit ketika aku sholat. Bahkan, sholat menjadi salah satu jalan untuk curhat dan berharap kemudahan agar lulus PTN. You may call me "Hamba with Benefits"  and it's definitely not really pure from my heart.
"Yuk ah sholat dulu!
Aku menemukan suatu terjemahan, tepatnya surat Al-Maidah ayat 51.
I don't want to hate and judge anyone over their religion. No, it's definitely wrong!

Bisa-bisa termakan dengan asumsi yang ada, might refer to atheist, but it's your choice anyway.

This issue always bring this up, kind of, whatever it takes, a Leader should  come from Muslim no matter what. Padahal, it's not that simple right? Is it that simple to choose a leader? Shall we judge Ahok based on his religion? Not his track records, programs, and achievements?*

*please keep in mind, it's not part of black campaign but examples.

Jadi, keep open minded gaes! Please, do not spread the hate and racism. A leader has been chosen, and this would be our responsible to keep our new leader on his tracks. And hopefully, you guys, please consider anything smartly and wisely in the future.

The Hypocrisy of Indonesian Voters every Election Time!

The Hypocrisy of Indonesian Voters over Religion

Halo!

Hohohoho, there might be lots of people that would be triggered by this post.

Well actually, I already had several debates regarding choosing a "non-muslim" leader, at least, with my family. Some of them said to me about Al-Maidah 51, which is about choosing Muslim leader rather than the non-muslim ones. But, me myself and I keep wondering "Is it that simple?". I mean, can't we consider another things like his/her "Capabilities", Track records, the idea of leading the communities, future plans for the cities, and etc .....

Myself keep asking "Whenever a non-muslim person want to be a leader, Does his "religion" would eliminate him directly? Can't we just sit there, listen for their visions, and compare it with another candidates? Because it's not only about Islam, it's about a nation, or organization, which can lead us forward, or backward. And for sure, even though Muslims are the m ajority in this country, can't we consider the other religions? Do they have their voices heard? Do their voices matters? Can't we listen to them and considering what this nation needs?"

And finally ..... once again, I asked "Is my religion, Islam, really this egocentric? I mean, we already declare ourselves to be 'Rahmatan lil Alamin', right?". Rahmatan lil Alamin is a very serious word. It means, Islam is a mercy to ALL mankind! No matter what your race or religion is ..... Isn't it? So, where's these words whenever comes the election years (?) It looks like we tend to be divided by these issues though.

Last but not least, if you're choosing a leader, just by their religion blindly ..... I would like to ask you a question "What makes you keep working with them? I mean, they're your leader for sure, right?". If you think it's okay, well, I must consider you as "Hypocrite" though. Don't get me wrong, please stop using double standard over anything hohohoho.

Well, if you had anything to say, just comment below, but if you want to chat me directly, you may approach me by Line: rafitanjonggg or email: rafiharirinst@gmail.com

Should We Blame the Race?

Blaming the Race for Individual Acts, Is it really fair?!

Disclaimer. This note didn't want to support one candidate, just want to share my experiences though

Halo!

Recently, I was having conversation with several person. Yeah, due to our distances, we were talking in phone. Our topic itself, was about the election for sure, especially the Jakarta governor election though. The conversation began with "If you were Jakarta people, who would you choose?"

Me: "Ahok for sure!"
Him: "Ha? Like for real?"
Me: "Yups, for sure, why?"
Him: "He was blasphemy Islam."
Me: "Which one?"
Him: "Don't you see the video?"
Me: "Yes I did, so, which one? Have you seen the full video of it?"
Him: "No, I don't need to, that part has told everything"
Me: "Hmmmm, let us say that he was blasphemy our religion. I personally already forgive him, because this is what my religion teach me. And yes, the legal process is continuing, though"
Him: "Well, he's not muslim anyway. Islam forbids us to choose non-muslim leader"
Me: "Hmmmm, Well I do respect what Islam taught me, I definitely saw Al-Maidah 51 as my very first references to choose a leader. And then, let see their capabilities through their campaign and debates. And let's choose the right one, even He/She is not muslim"
Him: "No, you're wrong!"
Me: "I can't be blind with politics, I don't want to be. And I just don't want to choose the worst one, even though he's same with my religion. Definitely our ideology is different"
..........
Well, the conversation keep moving forward. Till he said to me "Do you really want to choose him? He's chinese!"

Me: "Ha? Wow, you're definitely racist! I don't like it!"
Him: "No, I am not, it's right though. They're obviously sly or cunning. Don't you see about the case? Much of state money was taken away by them. We're not talking about Billion, it's hundreds Trillion. It's least than "Pribumi" corruptions which only hundreds million or billions rupiah"
Me: "Yes you are! Hmmmm, how could you blame all of the (chinese) people with the acts of -not so- twenty persons? It's not fair though. And you know what? I don't care about the numbers actually. Whatever it takes, corruptions are wrong things to do. And I think it has nothing to do with race though!"

Unity in Diversity as Indonesian Priority

The conversation kept moving, but I personally disappointed to have this racist conversation though. Blaming the chinese won't solve anything, and it felt so wrong for sure. This is not what Indonesia I used to know, which more than 700 ethnics and 1000 dialects. Indonesia that used to have Bhinneka Tunggal Ika or "Unity In Diversity" motto. Indonesia that's known to be polite societies. To all of (chinese) Indonesian people, I personally am sorry for this kind of 'racist' issue. I believe, together we can build our nation for our future generation :)

And one message for all of my muslim friends. I bet you already knew what "Muslims" felt in other countries, right? Muslims that used to be minority, labelled as "Terrorist", even ban to come their home. I didn't think you want to experience that right? So, don't let the minority felt the same way! We are one people, one nation, Indonesia. Do.not.let.them.divide.us. Salam #UnityInDiversity !

How to Respond with Sexist Person

Have you had this sexist conversation? Me too! Here's how to respond it!

Hello!

It's 2017, but I am still having such inappropriate conversation. Let me say, it's so sexist.

A: "Wow, you look like a woman, seriously!"
B: "Ha?" I answered him
A: "Stop bitching"
B: "Hahahaha, I can't believe I have this sexist conversation with you. I can't believe, in this era, there're still sexist person like you ..... Look, answer me yah, What's wrong being a woman?"
A: ".................."
B: "Well, they're strong enough to be an Independent person, so, why should I feel ashamed with it? In case you told me that I look like her, I don't mind about it, though. And this is when our conversation, end. Thanks"

Yups, that's fucked up, I just went and leave him alone hahaha. Sorry dude, can't continue this inappropriate conversation :))

How Can I Survive From Bullying

My way to survive from Bullying

Halo! Tonight I am gonna share about my story as Bullying survivors.

I was bullied when I was in elementary and junior high school, literally.

Formerly, I was being Introvert, which I was not really into talking with others except it's important, or my close friends, or necessary. I'm quite different with my siblings, which has so many friends, and having all of confidence to speak-up their mind. At least till they're growing up. Yups, my sister was so famous because she's so smart and active, and always got rank. What about me? No! I was so quiet and shy as well, which was not "Smart person" or "famous" type, though.

I was bullied because of my voice. They said it heard like a girl, they always call me "Banci" or sissy or fag. Yups, as ex-introvert, I knew, I'm gonna keep it myself, but keep thinking about it. It suffered me a lot, literally, I keep thinking about it when I was alone, but no one seems cared with me, probably because it's typically me, right?

And then, one day, I was so emotional, whenever my best friend "played" with me .... I was biting him till "blood" was coming out of his hand .... Yups, that was my fault I must say, I can't control it, and my own best friend was being the victim. They saw me like I'm crazy, but who were they? Did they even know me on the first place? No, right! So sorry my friend.

And after that, it changed everything. My best friend, the only friend that I knew so well, the only one that I could tell all of my story, was keeping away from me. I was alone, literally alone. No one in my family knew my condition, and this was exacerbated with "Bullying" that I keep getting. They even called me "Cannibal". Was it hurt? Yes, it is. Did I have feeling to running away? Yes, I was. Don't get me wrong, I was thinking for moving into new school, but, Is it going to change anything?

These kind of question keep rolling in my head, I was alone, literally. I only had myself and my thought.
I realized about this condition, and because of it, it's only me that kept motivating myself to be a better person. For the record, even my own "Guardian Teacher" called me "Stupid". I was telling my mom about that, and she came to school, and even scolded my teacher, they almost fighting, literally. Thanks to my mom, I realized that I am not alone, I still had my family, especially my Mom!

I kept motivating myself to be smarter, and was burnt by Jealous feeling. I was seeing that my sister, as one of top 5 students. keep getting "Gift" from my mom and "Praise" by teacher at the same time. This was "Ideal" things for me. I keep studying and studying, till I got my very first "ranking" when I was in 5th class. And it keep getting better. Those who tend to bully me was asking "Why are you changing, raf?". I just smiled at them and try to be "Low profile". This condition made them "forget" who I was, and I love it! They were "Seeing" me, so did my parents and teachers.
Thanks to this condition as well, I am interested to study more, and I keep it :))
What about when I was on Junior High School? Well, I was being bullied by several of "new" friends, which makes me realized that "Bullying" will always be right there. It's all up to you whether you want to keep thinking and giving reaction to this. I become resistant, and "not giving any shit" with that. And yes, it's effective! They were tired, though.

You are not alone!

For those, who are getting bullied. You must know that you're not alone. I am just a lucky one, who can motivate myself, but some of them end "Tragically". I don't want you to be.

Yes, it's hurt
Yes, it feels like "world" gonna be explode
Yes, it will haunt you for "Giving up" with this condition

But no, you're better than that! You're stronger than that! Especially, whenever you had someone who support you. I am being resistant because of my anger and jealous feeling, but I can be even stronger whenever I had my parents support, and of course, my best friends (Merliana, Tuty, and Eldina!). Literally thanks to them! Don't forget to smile, even with the fake ones, because it would make you feeling better :)

Bullying Quotes
Source: CoolNsmart.com

PS to Bullies: Insulting someone weaker ain't make you stronger, Please stop with the bullying, it's literally hurt our feeling. Some can survive, but some donts, before it's getting a victim, please stop, or it's gonna be your fault, forever!

Issue in Election Years be like ....

Indonesian Issues every Election Time!

Gordon Feminist Quote
Feminism according to Joseph Gordon

Definitely! Gender shouldn't be an issue, both men or women can be anything they want. Sometimes, when I was in some organization, and then, there's an election to choose a leader. I often encourage women to register themselves as a Leader also.
"Hey, why don't you register yourself? I am ready to be your team!"
"Hmmmm, well, we already have Men right here, they're better to be a Leader, though"
That was the end of conversation. Literally.

Choosing a leader, in Indonesia, always clashed with Religious beliefs. Where a leader shall be a Muslim, and preferred to be a Man. For me, I should accept a fact, that Indonesia isn't Islamic country, only the majority is. It means, every citizen, whether he/she is Muslims, Christian, Catholic, Buddhist, Hindu, or even Khongucu, they can sign in to be a Leader in every aspects. Yups, don't get me wrong, you may check our constitution. So yeah, my religious beliefs, would be my personal preference. What next? I don't care about their gender or what they believe, I should check their background, performances, achievements, even their "Scandals" as well. I won't choose a leader, blindly, because we're talking about a leader who leads us for the next 4 - 5 years.

So, for all of my viewers, both men or women, do not overthinking to choose what you want to be. Moreover, gender is your issue. For all of my friends, from all of religions, please keep in mind, in the middle of this Election years, you need to check and re-check who you want to choose. Just don't choose it blindly. Blindly over a religion (without checking their performances or etc) or/and a gender (omg, please gaes!). Remember, we don't want to buy a cat in a sack, it's definitely haram, right? :p

Please be wise to use your Vote!

PS. Politics isn't my field, but I'm not blind about it at all. I'm not really into debating also because it's my personal believes. And yes, I am feminist. Please keep your ayat(s) with yourself, because I already knew about it as well. Hehehehe
